Portfolio

These are all my projects, in descending chronological order. Some might be missing either because I forgot or they're under NDA. For now, this section is just a list with brief explanations. In the future, I will add full project pages for the more impactful items.
  1. Return of the Untitled Roleplaying Game
    2024 ➢ present
The idea of building a roleplaying game never left. This time it's back with a vengeance. I'm currently implementing the game using just Meson, C++ and Vulkan.
  2. Grapejuice
    2019 ➢ 2023
Roblox never had a native Linux client. In 2019 I made a sophisticated wrapper that would integrate the Roblox client into the Linux experience. It also had patches and utilities to make the experience even better. I don't have solid metrics on usage, since it was open source and without metrics. Though there were roughly 1 million users. 600,000 of users came through FlatHub. Other release channels had unfortunately no telemetry. Development stopped in 2023 after Roblox effectively killed of the ability for the client to be run in Wine.
  3. Miscellaneous Game Development on Roblox
    2023
It kept getting harder to keep Linux compatibility going, so I ended up making some smaller micro games. Unfortunately none of them really worked out. From this point on I didn't like where Roblox was going with their platform, so I stopped developing games on Roblox.
  4. Homelab
    2022 ➢ present
Started up the expensive hobby of running computers for 24/7. I started out with an old consumer PC and hosted some miscellaneous apps alongside the ELK (Elastic, Logstash, Kibana) stack for monitoring. Nowadays there's high-powered rack-mount equipment in my Homelab!
  5. Roblox Lua Transpiler Suite
    2019 ➢ 2023
When I made this transpiler suite, programming Lua on Roblox was pretty bad. I created a suite of tools around the JetBrains IntelliJ suite. This helped accelerate development. Projects made using this suite were very polished and robust.
  6. GenAI Object Replacer
    2019
I did an internship at a large company, where I was effectively allowed to build Generative AI with no prior experience. This was the graduation project for my BSc Software Engineering. I managed to get a grip on AI image generation and distributed machine learning in an extremely short span of time.
  7. Untitled Magic Game
    2019 ➢ 2020
I created a magic system on Roblox, and intended to build a game around it. Development was halted because at this point my entire life was thoroughly on Linux. Moving everything back to Windows was not an option for me, so any Roblox development including this magic game was effectively halted.
  8. Rapscallion
    2019
A LISP interpreter written entirely in the Lua programming language.
  9. Rhythmicity
    2018
Rhythmicity was a game developed in order to get some European study credits! It was a rhythm game for Android. Our main goal for the project was to get more familiar with C++ and OpenGL development. it ended up being quite a polished experience.
  10. 2D Java Game Engine
    2017
During summer break, I built a 2D game engine in Java / LWJGL. Though after multiple setbacks I lost the motivation to continue development.
  11. Ionic App Development
    2017
I worked at a start-up for roughly half a year. I ended up developing two Ionic apps and their native components.
  12. Roblox Anti Cheating Framework
    2016 ➢ 2017
We had major problems with players cheating in Wizardry II. For the client side of thing, I wrote an anti-temper engine. For the server side of things, I ended up creating a backend that is comparable to a modern SIEM solution.
  13. Roblox Helper Bot
    2016 ➢ 2018
Wizardry II had quite a large community. I created a helper bot that would accept commands through Roblox Direct messages. It would help out with tedious tasks and would accept commands in natural language.
  14. Wizardry II
    2015 ➢ 2017
Buildthomas created this game circa 2010 on Roblox. Together with Katomii, I helped revive the game with a set of updates.
  15. Medieval Mountains Shop UI
    2015
I helped out Nawtz again. While blowing some new life into the old Medieval Mountains game, he wanted a new Shop. Using technology from the Untitled Roleplaying Game, I made this new shop for him.
  16. Xeno Admin
    2015 ➢ 2018
Once again I thought having admin commands on Roblox was fun. But this time around I wrote a proper language parser for it. The older variant would just use string matches. Xeno admin on the other hand, had its own dedicated bourne shell dialect tailored to use in Roblox games. It also had a full-blown gui client with autocomplete features.
  17. RuneScape Client
    2015
I didn't like Jagex' launcher for RuneScape, so I made my own. It stopped working after they moved to different client technology. This was essentially my first Java project.
  18. Untitled Roleplaying Game
    2014 ➢ 2017
I started making a Roleplaying game in 2024 on Roblox. There have been many iterations of the same game. I kept running into limitations on Roblox, so it never went anywhere.
  19. Wavefront 2 Roblox
    2014
A small application capable of parsing Wavefront .obj files and transforming them into Roblox bricks. This was long before Roblox had the ability to natively read meshes.
  20. Collaborative Notepad
    2014
At the time I had two computers, and I wanted to share notes between them. Between learning C# and discovering new computer science concepts, I ended up writing a very odd notepad application. This notepad had local network peer discovery, and you could join editing sessions. Besides sharing notes, I also had to do math in the notes, so it feature an inline RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) calculator. This was my first project made with C#.
  21. Roblox Online Building
    2010 ➢ 2013
Early Roblox did not give you the ability to design a game together. I created a solution that would serialize a live game for you, which you could load back into Roblox Studio.
  22. Medieval Mountains
    2010 ➢ 2011
Medieval Mountains was one of the early games that defined Roblox. The game itself was designed by Nawtz1, I helped out by programming in all the features.
  23. Brinker7's Admin Commands V2
    2010 ➢ 2011
I liked having admin commands in Roblox games. So I made some for my own.
  24. The refrigerator game
    2009
My first 'real' game / programming project. It was made with Visual Basic. The goal was to catch food with a refrigerator and void bombs.

BrinkerVII

I am a professional software engineer in the real world, but I have plenty of side projects! This is the place where I'll try to show most of them off. If you want to know more about my corporate job, you'll have to meet me in the real world 😁
